The SweeTango Blog

The Ultimate Snack Food

October is National Apple Month. In celebration, we’d like to share a few facts that prove why apples are a great snack food. Not only do apples provide many of the vitamins and minerals necessary to live a healthy life, they also help your body prevent disease. Next time you’re looking for a bite to eat, grab a SweeTango and make it a memorable snacking experience. If you need some convincing, consider:

  • Apples are fat, sodium and cholesterol free
  • Apples are a good source of dietary fiber and vitamin C. One medium-sized apple has about 13 percent of the recommended daily value of dietary fiber and 11 percent of vitamin C
  • Two-thirds of an apple’s fiber and many of its antioxidants are found in the peel
  • And apples aid in:

–  Bone protection

–  Controlling asthma

–  Lowering cholesterol

–  Alzheimer’s prevention

–  Lung cancer prevention

–  Breast cancer prevention

–  Colon cancer prevention

–  Liver cancer prevention

–  Managing diabetes

–  Weight loss
