The sweet spot of the apple season stretches nationwide
Fans can win a season’s supply of apples and trip to a SweeTango® orchard
COLDBROOK, NS (Sept 26, 2014) –– From October 1st, Canadian fruit lovers across the country will be able to bite into the apple that has fans and foodies flocking to grocery stores and markets. Available across the country for the first time, SweeTangos are the sweet spot of the apple season and available for a very short time. Grown in Nova Scotia and Quebec, the Canadian SweeTango® season begins October 1st and runs through Halloween – or until supplies last.
A natural cross between the Honeycrisp and Zestar! varieties, SweeTango® apples have a unique flavour that makes your taste buds dance. The hyper-seasonal apple is crisp and sweet with a lively touch of citrus, honey and spice. It’s best eaten fresh or with complementary pairings, such as:
- Sliced SweeTango® apples with a young Pecorino Toscana and chilled Prosecco
- Sliced SweeTango® apples with an aged gouda and spicy Shiraz
Franco DiLiberatore, VP of Sales & Marketing of Scotian Gold Cooperative in Nova Scotia commented, “We’re really excited about the SweeTango® hyper-season this year because as a relatively new variety, this is the first time Canadians across the country will be able to find them. That said, supplies will still be very limited so we hope that people enjoy them while they can.”
To celebrate the season, SweeTango® is inviting fans to share their favourite SweeTango “Sweet Spot” on an interactive map at www.sweetango.com. Apple lovers can upload the location of their favourite place to buy SweeTango® apples, or they can share the location using #SpotSweeTango on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Fans also can text their “Sweet Spot” location to 99000.
The map will serve as a resource throughout the season allowing existing fans and SweeTango® newcomers to hop online or pull out their phone to instantly find a nearby retailer where Canada’s favourite apple is available.
Those who contribute to the map will earn a chance to win a season’s supply of SweeTango® apples and a trip to one of the scenic orchards that produce them. The sweepstakes runs through November 30, 2014.
