Shoppers can visit participating Lunds, Byerly’s, Festival Foods and Knowlan’s Food Market stores for details on reserving SweeTango, or they can go straight to http://reserve.sweetango.com to complete a reservation.

The one-of-a-kind “Reserve Your SweeTango” promotion ensures that SweeTango fans eager for harvest time will be among the first to get their hands on this year’s crop.

Each SweeTango reservation will include:
· One 4-lb. bag of SweeTango apples for $15
· Free tote bag
· Free SweeTango t-shirt
· Free “SweeTango Season” calendar

Reservations will be accepted through Monday, Sept. 2 (Labor Day) – or until 1,000 shoppers make a reservation, whichever comes first. Reserved apples will be available for pickup the weekend after Labor Day.

The mounting excitement for the arrival of SweeTango season is another sign of the apple’s growing popularity. A seasonal fall fruit that first hit store shelves in 2009, SweeTango wins great reviews from foodies, chefs and food writers. Fans rave SweeTango is the “best apple ever!” and “My new favorite!”

SweeTango has become a highlight of fall. The SweeTango season generally begins in early September and lasts only into November – so shoppers should be sure to stock up on SweeTango apples while they can.

Those who reserve a supply of SweeTango will receive some of the first apples harvested this fall. Apple lovers who don’t reserve SweeTango still will be able to find the apples in Twin Cities grocery stores starting in early September.

“We’re going to be harvesting a great crop this year, enough to satisfy SweeTango fans throughout the Twin Cities,” said Tim Byrne, president of Next Big Thing, a cooperative of orchards that grows and markets SweeTango. “We’re offering SweeTango reservations to give our hometown fans a head start on the SweeTango season.”

Reservations are being accepted in the Twin Cities only. SweeTango fans who make a reservation can choose one of six Lunds, Byerly’s and Festival Foods locations to pick up their apples. They will receive an email message letting them know when their reservation is ready for pickup.
